On Sunday 17 March last, the annual edition of the Silent Procession (Stille Omgang) for the KBO members (Catholic Association of the Elderly) took place once again. The weather forecast was not very good, yet about forty people joined us. Father Pieter van Wijlick sss, rector of the Begijnhof Chapel, also came along with us. It was a quiet walk and we did not have to walk fast, for such a walk also calls for quiet and opportunity for prayer.
At the departure the father says a prayer and then we set off towards the Kalverstraat, across the Dam and then along the Nieuwendijk to the end, then turn right and so over the bridge towards the Warmoesstraat. We did not go into the Nes, since the streets were torn up. But via the Rokin you can get there as well. Now and then the sun shows itself, then a few drops of rain. Then we arrive at the Wijde Kapelsteeg, the street where the Heilige Stede once stood.
On the Rokin we pause for a moment at the Miracle Column, which comes from the Devotion Chapel of the Heilige Stede. Then we walk towards the Begijnhof, where the coffee and sandwiches are ready. Chapeau to the Amsterdam Contactblad department for the community of the Begijnhof Chapel KBO. After lunch there is a Eucharistic celebration and afterwards everyone goes home satisfied. A beautiful day full of devotion and encounters.

Zondag 17 maart Stille Omgang met KBO leden
Op zondag 17 maart jl. was er weer de jaarlijkse editie van de Stille Omgang voor de KBO-leden (Katholieke Bond van Ouderen). De weersvoorspelling was niet zo best, maar toch waren er ongeveer veertig mensen die met ons meegingen. Ook pater Pieter van Wijlick sss, rector van de Begijnhofkapel, ging met ons mee. Het was een rustige tocht en we hoefden niet hard te lopen, want zo’n tocht vraagt ook om rust en gelegenheid voor gebed.
Bij vertrek bidt de pater een gebed en dan vertrekken wij richting Kalverstraat, de Dam over en dan de Nieuwendijk tot het eind, dan rechtsaf en zo over de brug richting Warmoesstraat. Wij zijn niet de Nes ingegaan, aangezien de straten opengebroken waren. Maar via het Rokin kom je er ook. Even laat de zon zich zien, dan een paar druppels regen. Dan komen we bij de Wijde Kapelsteeg, de straat waar de Heilige Stede heeft gestaan.
Op het Rokin staan we even stil bij de Mirakelkolom die afkomstig is uit de Devotiekapel van de Heilige Stede. Dan lopen wij richting Begijnhof en daar staan de koffie en de broodjes klaar. Chapeau voor de afdeling Amsterdam Contactblad voor de gemeenschap van de Begijnhofkapel KBO. Na de lunch is er een Eucharistieviering en daarna gaat iedereen weer voldaan huiswaarts. Een prachtige dag vol devotie en ontmoetingen.
