DEAR FAITHFUL — On 17 September next it will be twenty years since the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter came to the Netherlands and began the apostolate upon which we may now look back. That is a reason to be grateful to God and to look back upon what has made us what we are today, but also to look forward with confidence.
In any case, we would gladly celebrate these twenty years with all the parishioners and friends of the Fraternity on Sunday 20 September in the Agnes Church. The bishop will come to administer the Sacrament of Confirmation and to celebrate the solemn pontifical liturgy. At the end, a pleasant surprise will be announced by the bishop. For the one whom it concerns, it remains a secret for a little while longer.
What have twenty years of apostolate become? From a religious point of view we may consider it according to the fruits of grace: vocations to the priesthood and the religious life, marriages and conversions, the daily rosary and the long queues of penitents on Sundays.
That was very different on 17 September 2006. What has been able to develop well over the past twenty years is the fruit of grace. What has not been able to develop well has become hardened because of our lack of trust in God and through our own pride.
Our apostolate has also been able to produce a "branch" in Lobith. I hope that in another twenty years we shall be able to say that our apostolate has produced further foundations, and that the Lord, when He comes to the harvest, will find a rich field on the fields we have been allowed to till.
I call upon you to come in great numbers on that day and to give thanks to God with us for twenty years of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter in the Netherlands.

BEMINDE GELOVIGEN — Op 17 september aanstaande is het twintig jaar geleden dat de Priesterbroederschap van Sint Petrus naar Nederland kwam en het apostolaat begon waarop wij nu mogen terugkijken. Dat is een reden om God dankbaar te zijn en terug te kijken op hetgeen ons heeft gemaakt tot wat wij vandaag zijn, maar ook om vol vertrouwen vooruit te kijken.
In ieder geval willen wij deze twintig jaar graag met alle parochianen en vrienden van de Broederschap vieren op zondag 20 september in de Agneskerk. De bisschop zal komen om het H. Vormsel toe te dienen en de plechtige pontificale liturgie te vieren. Aan het einde zal door de bisschop een plezierige verrassing worden verkondigd. Dat blijft nog even voor degene die het zal overkomen een geheim.
Wat is twintig jaar apostolaat geworden? Vanuit religieus gezichtspunt kunnen wij het beschouwen naar de vruchten der genade: roepingen tot het priesterschap en het religieuze leven, huwelijken en bekeringen, de dagelijkse rozenkrans en de lange rijen biechtelingen op zondag.
Dat was op 17 september 2006 heel anders. Wat zich in de afgelopen twintig jaar goed heeft kunnen ontwikkelen, is vrucht der genade. Wat zich niet goed heeft kunnen ontwikkelen, is verstokt geraakt omwille van ons ontbrekende vertrouwen op God en door onze eigen hoogmoed.
Ons apostolaat heeft ook nog in Lobith een "Ableger" kunnen voortbrengen. Ik hoop dat wij over nog eens twintig jaar kunnen zeggen, dat ons apostolaat verdere stichtingen heeft kunnen voortbrengen en dat de Heer, wanneer Hij tot de oogst aantreedt, een rijk veld zal vinden op de akkers die wij hebben mogen bewerken.
Ik roep u op om op die dag talrijk te komen en met ons God te danken voor twintig jaar Priesterbroederschap Sint-Petrus in Nederland.
