This is the first piece I write in Hofnieuws on behalf of the location board (LB).
As you have already been able to read in the newsletter, Arthur Anderegg has stepped down as chairman and member of the Location Board. The Location Board now consists of Father Yann Asa, Elly Molenaar, Tim Stok and Caspar van der Leeuw. Through this channel we wish to inform you about the goings-on within the Martyrs of Gorcum and the partnership Clara & Franciscus.
On 14 September last I gave a short address of welcome during the opening of the new liturgical year. In it I mentioned two matters. By now you have been able to read and experience that since 5 October we once again celebrate church services in the Grote Kerk. Opinions differ as to which place is more beautiful, more pleasant or simply better, but let us see how it goes for a year. Shortly before the summer we will evaluate it together, and then all options remain open.
The other point I mentioned is that the agendas of almost all administrative consultations are still largely determined by the Diocese's mandate to centralise activities within our partnership and, in time, to close several church buildings.
This exercise has now been going on for years and has clearly taken its toll within the parishes and within our partnership. And unfortunately the end is not yet in sight. At the moment every parish is working on drawing up a focus plan. Ideally, these plans are supported plans with which the 'own' parishioners, the parishes of the other locations and the Diocese can all agree. But not everyone will certainly agree with the final choices and decisions. And although everyone is working hard on these plans as well as working hard to ensure sufficient support, I am sometimes sceptical about their feasibility.
By the time you read this, hopefully a good, constructive parish meeting will have taken place in which the plan for our parish has been presented and in which everyone has had the opportunity to respond to it.
The first part of this piece may read somewhat negatively – unfortunately I cannot make things look better than they are, but I want to conclude with something positive and personal.
Although the rain and wind sometimes make it difficult, in these weeks we can fully enjoy the beautiful autumn colours in Amsterdam. When I cycle to or from my work I sometimes pay no attention to them, but as soon as I can I take a little ride along the canals or through the Oosterpark, together with my three-year-old daughter, to jump in the puddles, run through the leaves and behold the beautiful colours.
Instead of focusing on the closing of church buildings, it helps me to focus on that from time to time.

Nieuws van het locatiebestuur
Dit is het eerste stukje dat ik schrijf in Hofnieuws namens het locatiebestuur (LB).
Zoals u reeds heeft kunnen lezen in de nieuwsbrief is Arthur Anderegg teruggetreden als voorzitter en lid van het Locatiebestuur. Het Locatiebestuur bestaat nu uit Pater Yann Asa, Elly Molenaar, Tim Stok en Caspar van der Leeuw. Via deze weg willen wij u informeren over het reilen en zeilen binnen de Martelaren van Gorcum en het samenwerkingsverband Clara & Franciscus.
Op 14 september jongstleden hield ik een welkomspraatje tijdens de opening van het nieuwe kerkelijk jaar. Hierin benoemde ik twee zaken. U heeft inmiddels kunnen lezen en ervaren dat we vanaf 5 oktober weer kerken in de Grote Kerk. Over welke plek mooier, prettiger of simpelweg beter is lopen de meningen uiteen, maar laten we het een jaartje aankijken. Kort voor de zomer zullen we het met z’n allen evalueren en dan liggen alle opties open.
Het andere punt dat ik benoemde, is dat de agenda’s van vrijwel alle bestuurlijke overleggen nog steeds voor het overgrote gedeelte bepaald worden door de opdracht van het Bisdom om activiteiten binnen ons samenwerkingsverband te centreren en op termijn enkele kerkgebouwen te sluiten.
Deze exercitie is nu al jaren gaande en heeft duidelijk zijn tol geëist binnen de parochies en binnen ons samenwerkingsverband. En helaas is het einde nog niet inzicht. Op dit moment is iedere parochie bezig met het opstellen van een focusplan. Deze plannen zijn idealiter gedragen plannen waar de ‘eigen’ parochianen, de parochies van de andere locaties én het Bisdom zich in kunnen vinden. Maar met de uiteindelijke keuzes en beslissingen zal zeker niet iedereen het eens zijn. En hoewel iedereen hard werkt aan deze plannen alsmede hard bezig is te zorgen voor voldoende draagvlak, ben ik soms sceptisch over de haalbaarheid hiervan.
Als u dit leest heeft er hopelijk een goede, constructieve parochievergadering plaatsgevonden waarin het plan voor onze parochie is gepresenteerd en waarin een ieder de kans heeft gehad hierop te reageren.
Het eerste deel van dit stukje leest mogelijk wat negatief – helaas kan ik zaken niet mooier maken dan ze zijn, maar ik wil besluiten met iets positiefs en persoonlijks.
Hoewel de regen en wind het soms lastig maken, kunnen we deze weken volop genieten van de prachtige herfstkleuren in Amsterdam. Als ik van of naar mijn werk fiets heb ik er soms geen oog voor, maar zodra het kan fiets ik even over de grachten of door het Oosterpark, samen met mijn driejarige dochter om in de plassen te springen, door de bladeren te rennen en de prachtige kleuren te aanschouwen.
In plaats van te focussen op het sluiten van kerkgebouwen helpt het mij om af en toe daarop te focussen.
