ANNUAL ACCOUNTS 2024: stepping stone to the next challenge

In June 2025, our treasurer Jan Mentink once again submitted the 2024 Annual Accounts of the Martelaren to the Diocese. Do you remember? Jan Mentink is the treasurer of all the parishes in our Cooperative Partnership, and the undersigned is the budget holder of the Martelaren alone.
First of all, a word of thanks for all your financial contributions. Although the contributions from parishioners fell from € 42,053 to € 39,695, we really cannot do without your contribution! We managed well to keep the Income-from-property-and-investments at level. These income rose slightly from € 197,140 (2023) to € 203,190 (2024). So thanks also to all the tenants. You are our backbone.
What expenses we incur in a financial year is always more exciting than one hopes. An example. Because of the high costs, we often had to leave the heating off, which saved a lot of money. But due to the high energy tariffs, our total energy costs have not fallen much.
In addition, it later turned out that the building is not happy with the cold. It protests by secreting salt, presumably as a result of a moisture problem caused by a lack of heat. You may have seen the white substance on the church pews yourselves. An investigation by our regular architect Archivolt must determine what the building needs.
That brings me to the next great challenge. the Beheer Foundation has taken the initiative for a plan for the energy transition. The aim is to rearrange and insulate the church better in order to arrive at affordable heat. Follow the newsletter! In October there will be a presentation of these plans, and they are not to be missed.
What never shows up in the annual figures is the great contribution in kind of many people. From lay leaders and readers. From sacristans and choirs. From booklet makers and people who do the laundry.
These people, with their dedication, bring the soul into the building. Without their dedication, the church is lost. Money is important, but dedication is even more important. Thank you.

JAARREKENING 2024: opstap naar de volgende uitdaging
In juni 2025 is door onze penningmeester Jan Mentink weer de Jaarrekening 2024 van de Martelaren aan het Bisdom opgeleverd. Weet u het nog? Jan Mentink is de penningmeester van alle parochies in ons Samenwerkingsverband en ondergetekende is de budgethouder van alleen de Martelaren.
Allereerst een bedankje voor al uw financiële bijdragen. Weliswaar daalde de bijdragen van parochianen van € 42.053 naar € 39.695, maar uw bijdrage kunnen wij echt niet missen! Het lukte goed om de Opbrengst-uit-bezittingen-en-beleggingen op niveau te houden. Deze inkomsten stegen licht van € 197.140 (2023) naar € 203.190 (2024). Dank dus ook aan alle huurders. Jullie zijn onze ruggengraat.
Welke kosten wij maken in een boekjaar is altijd spannender dan je hoopt. Een voorbeeld. Vanwege de hoge kosten hebben wij de verwarming vaak uit moeten laten, wat veel geld heeft gescheeld. Maar door de hoge energietarieven zijn onze totale kosten van energie niet veel gedaald.
Daarnaast blijkt achteraf dat het gebouw niet blij is met de kou. Dat protesteert door zout af te scheiden als vermoedelijk gevolg van een vochtprobleem door een tekort aan warmte. U heeft mogelijk de witte stof op de kerkbanken zelf ook gezien. Een onderzoek van onze vaste architect Archivolt moet uitwijzen wat het gebouw nodig heeft.
Dat brengt mij op de komende grote uitdaging. De Stichting Beheer heeft het initiatief genomen tot een plan voor de energietransitie. Het doel is de kerk beter in te delen en te isoleren om zo tot betaalbare warmte te komen. Volg de nieuwsbrief! In oktober komt er een presentatie van deze plannen en die zijn niet mis.
Wat nooit in de jaarcijfers naar voren komt is de grote inzet in natura van veel mensen. Van lekenvoorgangers en lectoren. Van kosters en koren. Van boekjesmakers en mensen die de was doen.
Deze mensen brengen met hun inzet de ziel in het gebouw. Zonder hun inzet is de kerk verloren. Geld is belangrijk, maar inzet is nog belangrijker. Dank.
