The Miracle of 1345 and the tradition of the Silent Procession (Stille Omgang) come to life during this walking tour.
Holy City Amsterdam celebrates 750 years of Amsterdam together with the Jubilee Year and seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of the city's unique religious past. The walks arose from a love for the religious heritage of the Catholic Church and the deep conviction that these places still speak. Not only to believers, but to everyone touched by beauty, stillness and history.
Every week the walks start at 10.00 and 13.30 hours from the Co-cathedral Basilica of Saint Nicholas, only a three-minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station. The walking route through the heart of the city ends centrally at the Spui. The tour lasts two hours. The walks are offered on a donation basis.

Wie Amsterdam bezoekt, denkt al snel aan grachten, fietsen en de Wallen. Maar achter de bekende gevels van de binnenstad gaat een bijzonder religieus erfgoed schuil. Holy City Amsterdam is een nieuw initiatief dat bezoekers en Amsterdammers uitnodigt om de stad met andere ogen te bekijken: door de lens van geloof, geschiedenis en verrassende ontdekkingen.
Tijdens een inspirerende wandeltocht door de oude binnenstad ontdek je middeleeuwse kerken, verborgen kapellen en unieke gevelstenen. De tour voert onder meer langs de imposante Nicolaasbasiliek, de Oude Kerk – het oudste gebouw van Amsterdam – en Ons’ Lieve Heer op Solder. Het Mirakel van 1345 en de traditie van de Stille Omgang komen tot leven in deze wandeltocht.
Holy City Amsterdam viert 750 jaar Amsterdam samen met het Jubeljaar en wil bijdragen aan een dieper begrip van haar unieke religieuze verleden. De wandelingen zijn ontstaan uit liefde voor religieus erfgoed van de katholieke kerk en de diepe overtuiging dat deze plekken nog altijd spreken. Niet alleen tot gelovigen, maar tot iedereen die geraakt wordt door schoonheid, verstilling en geschiedenis.
Wekelijks starten de wandelingen om 10.00 en 13.30 uur vanaf de Co-kathedrale basiliek van de Heilige Nicolaas, op slechts drie minuten loopafstand van Amsterdam Centraal Station. De wandelroute door het hart van de stad eindigt centraal op het Spui. De tour duurt twee uur. De wandelingen worden aangeboden op basis van donaties.
