An atmosphere of welcome for everyone who wishes to join in. The occasion is a sad one, he said, but what came forth from it was mercy and solidarity.

Kerkasiel voor de familie Babayants in Kampen
Op donderdag 13 maart 2025 heb ik als voorganger, waarbij mijn man en zijn zus en twee bezoekers aanwezig waren, een viering geleid in Kampen. Kerkcentrum “De Open Hof”, biedt momenteel Kerkasiel aan het gezin Babayants.
De familie Babayants vluchtte elf jaar geleden uit Oezbekistan en kwam in Nederland terecht. Acht jaar lang woonde het gezin met vier kinderen in het asielzoekerscentrum in Emmen. Tot twee keer toe werd de verblijfsstatus afgewezen, vorig jaar dreigde het gezin uitgezet te worden. Maar dat ging op het laatste moment niet door dankzij een spoedzitting, maar daarbij draaide het om uitstel, geen afstel.
Omdat de familie Babayants alsnog uitgezet kan worden, klopte het gezin aan bij de kerk in Kampen. Die besloot op 21 november kerkasiel te verlenen. Er wordt een doorlopende kerkdienst gehouden, die niet mag worden verstoord. Door die dienst continu gaande te houden kan de kerk voorkomen dat het gezin het land wordt uitgezet. Uit heel Nederland zijn nu voorgangers bezig om die continue dienst vorm te geven. In de hal van het kerkcentrum hangt een kaart van Nederland waarop te zien is dat overal voorgangers vanuit alle kerkgezindten vandaan zijn gekomen om de doorlopende dienst vorm te geven.
Als symbool van het doorgaan van de kerkdienst, gedurende dag en nacht, kreeg ik de kaars doorgegeven van de voorafgaande viering. De voorganger en de ongeveer 20 mensen die de dienst volgden kwamen uit Westerbork (!). Om ongeveer 20.00 uur werd de kaars aan mij overhandigd en konden wij onze dienst houden tot ongeveer 22.00 uur en overhandigde ik de kaars aan de volgende voorganger. Zij en de drie kerkgangers kwamen uit Friesland. Bij mijn viering kwamen twee mensen extra, nl. vanuit Zwolle en vanuit de buurt waar de Open Hof staat, meeluisteren en -praten. Een bijzondere uitspraak van de man uit de buurt, die overigens dagelijks even kwam luisteren en meevieren, was, dat hij ontroerd was door de sfeer die in de Open Hof bij de vieringen ontstond. Een sfeer van welkom zijn voor iedereen die wil invoegen. De aanleiding is een trieste, vertelde hij, maar wat er uit voortkwam was barmhartigheid en saamhorigheid.
Op de website van het Kerkasiel Kampen staat de volgende oproep: Als kerk bidden wij tot de Eeuwige onderstaand gebed, uitgesproken tijdens de startviering. Bid je met ons mee?
